    Saluki x - Approx 9 months - 23"

Izzie is in desperate need of a foster home/permanent home as an only dog. She is only a baby and has had to fight for every scrap of food in her life, resulting in her scrapping with the present fosters dogs to make sure she gets food. Even taking food from the children's hands at the moment if the other dogs are present. She is a lovely lovely dog, is brilliant on the lead, loving, cuddly, but because of the terrible trauma she has suffered in such a short life she needs some love and patience to unfold into the beautiful dog we know is inside. If you think that you could foster Izzie for us with a view to failing and keeping her get, in touch. Please don't apply if you work as she needs someone around most of the time whilst she gets her confidence back. She will reward you with love in abundance and megga cuddles. She is still under assessment. Found wandering in Essex she served her time in holding kennels, and was a perfect kennel guest. She has proved to be a perfect house guest so far. Izzie is being fostered in Essex. We only re-home within 200 miles of base in Harlow, Essex. All prospective adopters will be homechecked. Please email for details as the phone are continually busy with emergencies.

  • Baxter - whippet x lurcher NOT CAT FRIENDLY (APPLICATION OPEN)

Click here to read this dog's discussion thread

    Gorgeous fun loving cheeky Baxter - Approx 18 months - whippet/collie x 25"

Baxter has come a long way since he first came into the rescue; he was hand shy and never wagged his tail. Now he’s got his wag back but would love to find a forever home. Could you offer this lad a forever sofa? Baxter is an absolutely stunning boy with beautiful markings, comical ears and a cute habit of tipping his head to one side when you are talking to him. He’s no more than 18 months old and stands 25” to the shoulder. He is in excellent condition. He’s lively, intelligent and loyal. Baxter is a stop or go dog. He loves exercise and a game but also loves a cuddle and will happily sleep an evening away curled up next to a human or a dog. Baxter loves affection and companionship. It’s felt at the moment due to his youthful exuberance he may knock young children flying (not through any malice at all, this dog has a lovely nature) and so we are really looking for a family who do not have young children. Older children and other dogs however could provide Baxter with the stimulation he needs but are not a must. We feel Baxter would be ideal for agility or flyball due to his intelligence, speed and drive. Baxter has impeccable manners with other dogs in the home and has got on well with all the dogs he has lived with. He takes treats nicely. He will sit and wait patiently for them to be given. He travels well, is fully house trained and responds to basic commands. Baxter can react badly motorcycles and other dogs whilst on the lead but can be distracted with a treat. It is hoped in time that this can be something that he can get out of with some persistence and training. Ideally however it is hoped to find his forever home in the countryside. Baxter has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and deflead. He is currently being fostered in Essex & all enquiries for him should be addressed to Jenny. We do not rehome young dogs to anyone who works more than part-time and only rehome within 200 miles of base in Harlow, Essex. All prospective adopters will be home checked

    Collie x whippet - Approx 10 months - 23"

Barley, unbelievably, only came in a couple of days ago. Having been left behind after a raid by police, this baby wagged her tail to her captors. She is lovely inside and out, and has settled in really well with her foster home. We would like Barley to go to a home where someone is around most of the time, children she loves, having been to the local school already and taken part in assembly! She loves everyone. If you think you could offer Barley a lovely home, where she will feel safe again, get in touch. She has one fault, she pulls on the lead. Well she can't be perfect!! We only re-home within 200 miles of base in Harlow, Essex. All prospective adopters will be homechecked. Please email for details as the phone are continually busy with emergencies.

  • Trixie Twix - (Tripod) Whippet x saluki (RESERVED)

Click here to read this dog's discussion thread

    whippet x saluki - Approx 12 months - 23"

Trixie twixie has come into us through the PDSA. She has a sad story behind her. Approximately 7 weeks ago she was rescued from a house where she was being ill-treated. She was literally given away to the family who rescued her. At just 10 months of age. Then she escaped over the six foot fence of their back garden and was immediately run over by a hit and run. She managed to run back to their house, dragging her leg with her. The vets did try to repair the leg but it would not re-set properly, possibly because of the extent of the damage to the bone, and so it was decided to take the leg off. The family who had rescued her had already decided that she was not going to be permanently with them; they were actively looking for a new home for her, but this prompted them to ask the PDSA to look for a home for her. That's where SLR came in. She is a lovely little girlie, is used to living with dogs and children, and has learnt her lesson about trying to jump 6 foot fences. She is a lot quieter now. Losing the back leg does not affect her stability or ability to race around. She will be up and running with the best of them shortly. After just 8 days the site of the wound has healed very well. We do not rehome young dogs to anyone who works more than part-time and only rehome within 200 miles of base in Harlow, Essex. All prospective adopters will be homechecked. Please email for details as the phones are continually busy with emergencies.

Oscar was found straying, underweight, and with some limited movement in one back leg suggesting that he has had restricted exercise, i.e. penned. • Jessie's pups Whippet x lurcher (8 PUPS.7 GIRLS, ONE BOY) (2 GIRLS RESERVED - BOY RESERVED)

Click here to read this dog's discussion thread

    whippet x? pups - Born 20/01.2010 - "

Jessie's pups were born on the 20th January. Jessie was brought in after being knocked down by a car. She was heavily pregnant, with just over a week to go. Jessie is not up for adoption at this time, but the pups will be at 8 weeks old. We are strict with our rehoming policies at the Rescue and no-one who works will be allowed to adopt the pups. We need at least one member of the family home most of the time. We take up vet references, even neighbour references, and also homecheck all potential adopters. The best possible homes will be sought. We are not expecting these pups to be big, and will update so that each pup has it's own thread in due course. Jessie herself is only around 22" and a very quiet and loyal whippet x. The cross probably goes back two generations to some collie, but she is very whippety. Please email for details as the phones are continually busy with emergencies. We only re-home within 200 miles of base in Essex.

  • Slim. Very friendly Saluki x grey. (NOT KNOWN IF CAT FRIENDLY - FINE WITH CHICKENS)

Click here to read this dog's discussion thread

    Slim - Saluki x 26"

Slim was abandoned and taken to holding kennels. He was freezing, even though the kennels had heating; being so skinny he was still cold. We took him out on day six and he has served his time now. He is proving to be a very good boy. Love to go in his crate for a while and is clean in the house. He is probably around 2 years old. Loves people and other dogs and is good on the lead. Slim is being fostered in Hampshire. If you feel you could offer Slim a home where you are around most of the time, please get in touch. We only rehome within 200 miles of base in Essex, and all prospective adopters will be homevisited.

  • Skip 9 month old pup lurcher NOT KNOWN IF CAT FRIENDLY (APPLICATIONS OPEN)

Click here to read this dog's discussion thread

Approx 9 months old pup - Saluki x THROWN AWAY WITH BROKEN LEG. "

Poor Skip was thrown over a garden wall of a Senior Citizen in the early hours of the morning. He had already a broken leg and the other leg was strained. The lady sat with him for a couple of hours until she could raise the alarm to her friend to come and help. He was wedged between her low garden wall and the fence, and in a lot of pain. Skip was rushed to the local vets and transferred to their Sussex branch to be operated on. Skip just survived the op. His broken leg has been pinned in two places and the other leg strapped when on exercise. He is a lovely lovely little chap and still trusts people, even though his "owners" threw him away when he incurred the broken leg. Skip is well on the mend now and being fostered in Surrey. We are looking for a home with someone around all the time, so no working homes please. He is going to need to mend slowly. Unbelievably he doesn't seem to have any baggage, just lots of love to give. All prospective adopters will be homechecked. Skip is a lovely lovely bouncy pup around 22 inches at the shoulder at the mo and growing. But we don't think he will make more than 25 at the shoulder. All prospective adopters will be homechecked.
